Welcome! I’m Jeff Tometich, and I’m thrilled to share my passion for Japan with you. As a dedicated private travel guide and tour manager, I specialize in crafting unforgettable experiences for first-time visitors looking to explore Japan’s rich cultural, artistic, and historical heritage.

My Journey

My adventures in Japan began when I was 17 during the mid-90s. It was my first real international trip, and I was fortunate to be hosted by a loving Japanese family in Nara. This relationship has endured over the years, and since that first trip, I have been obsessed with Japan’s rich history, culture, food, architecture, fashion, and technology.

Over the decades, I have returned to Japan many times in various capacities to work, study, and teach. My goal is to help others appreciate the beauty I discovered many years ago. Through my tours, I aim to equip my fellow travelers with the skills needed to eventually explore the country independently and to find something they are passionate about.

Experience and Education

I have lived in Sapporo, Yokohama, and Kyoto, and spent considerable time in Nara, where my journey began. Originally from the Seattle area, I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and currently reside in France, where I also provide similar travel assistance. I’m fluent in French and certified with a TFL of C1 level.

My academic background includes:

BA in Marketing from the University of Utah, with a minor in Japanese
MBA from Southern Utah University
EMBA from INSEEC Paris
Two years of language and social studies with Brigham Young University in both Utah and Yokohama

Japanese language proficiency at CEFR B2 level and JLPT N-3 level.
